My arbitration practice is built on more than 35 years’ experience practising exclusively in family law.
In 2009, having practised exclusively in family law for almost 20 years, I founded Lake Legal – a specialist family law team based in Leeds which became recognised as one of the leading family law practices in the North of England. I was consistently awarded the highest personal rankings by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, the leading independent legal directories.
Arbitration has played a central role in my professional work for many years. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
In 2012, following the introduction of the financial arbitration scheme, I became one of the first solicitors in the country to qualify as a family arbitrator.
Qualified as a solicitor practicing exclusively in family law.
Founded Lake Legal, a specialist family law team based in Leeds which became recognised as one of the leading family law practices in the North of England.
Qualified as a Family Law Arbitrator and have since conducted numerous hearings, both in person and remotely.
The first family lawyer in the region to be awarded ‘Star Individual’ status by Chambers & Partners.
One of only two lawyers to be named as a ‘Leading Individual’ in the region by Legal 500.
Named in the inaugural ‘Hall of Fame’ ranking by Legal 500 recognising ‘lawyers at the very top of the profession’.
Moved away from client work as a solicitor to focus exclusively on my arbitration practice.
This transition culminated in the establishment of Ayrton Arbitration — a natural extension of my commitment to arbitration as a tailored and effective approach to resolving family disputes.

Because my professional work is dedicated solely to family financial arbitration, I am able to provide a responsive and flexible approach to appointments, timetabling and case management.
Although I am based in the North of England, my arbitration practice has a national reach, with appointments from across the country. My arbitration Awards have been consistently commended for their clarity, detailed analysis and comprehensive treatment of the issues.
